Looking Forward!

Looking forward - there are green seed pods on these branches. Spring on the West Coast is only a couple of months away!

All That Jazz - my favorite design of the last year.
All That Jazz – my favorite design of the last year.

It is the beginning of a New Year.  Looking back this has been an incredible year for me as a designer – I have had the opportunity to design with some wonderful yarns and make some new friends through my designs.  Looking forward – I want to do more of the same!

  • Looking forward – I have a book of patterns that I want to design.
  • Looking forward – I have designs that I want to finish.
  • Looking forward – I have designs that I want to paint.
  • Looking forward – I have friends to meet.
  • Looking forward – I have pictures to capture.
  • Looking forward – I have walks to make.
  • Looking forward – I have blogs to write.
  • Looking forward – I have a full year ahead!

I don’t really make resolutions for the New Year – I just try to face each year with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn what I don’t know.  I don’t dwell on the past – I let it go.  If it has been a good year – it will be a great foundation for the next.  And if it has been a bad year – Well, I am not going to let it set the tone for the next!

Cold weather Pop Art!
Cold weather Pop Art!

This morning was cold and the clouds were flirting with the blue skies.  The lighting was such that the reflections of the bare trees in the water were sharper than the trees themselves outlined against the sky.

It was a new walk today.  We went wandering around the new Linley Point subdivision, up on top of Rutherford Rd, off of Vanderneuk.  Linley Point will be beautiful when it is done.  It will also be very extensive.  You can see where new roads will be going.  As they build the developers are creating a lot of environmentally protected parkland to surround the homes.  Some of the homes will have fabulous views of these wetland parks.

Today in the marshes we saw Bufflehead ducks, Hooded Mergansers, and Mallards – there are always Mallards.  There were two Eagles high overhead – lazily circling and diving through the updrafts.  I think that we saw a Beaver dam and house in one of the ponds and a lot of downed trees – more Beaver work!  It was a very interesting place to go walking.

How do you start your New Year?  Have you got great plans or is life right where you want it to be?  I look forward to sharing the year with you!

  1. okay, you went walking right behind our house! Did the doorbell ring with someone looking for tea? No it didn’t. Those mallards you saw are ours. They spend a good part of their day in our backyard munching down on cracked corn. What is the going rate for cornfeed mallards?

    1. Hi Karen!
Tom wants to make it perfectly clear that it is his fault! We HAD to get home for Football Playoff’s! They started today! Next time we will stop! As for the ducks – you should do well! LOL! I’ll remember to bring them some more corn next time we walk there!

  2. Lynette, you were going to let me know when you had the pattern for this hat and gloves. Is it possible for you to tell me how much it is and I will send you the money for it or get Sonia to bring it in to you so the pattern can be sent down to me. I so desperately want to get this pattern. It was so disappointing to have the two classes cancelled where you were going to teach it. Hoping to hear from you: louise2000@shaw.ca

    Happy New Year

  3. “All that Jazz” is also one of your designs that I just love! Elegant sophistication. It reminds me of photos I have seen of my Mom when she was a young woman in the mid 1930s. Have toyed with purchasing the kit I saw via one of your links. One I get a few more unfinished projects completed.
    Keep designing!
