Square Rays - 22 grs of Track in Huckleberry.

Square Rays – 22 grs of Track in Huckleberry.

Lets try something a little different – a square that starts in the center and works out – a whole blanket of these would have a very vintage feel!  Here is a link to Tin Can Knits for a Pinhole center start.  An alternative start would be to cast-on the eight sts and then gather them up to close the hole at the end of the knitting.

This pattern is written and charted.

Materials:  Tracks in Imyor Huckleberry, approx. 22 grs; 3.25mm US#3 dpn’s and 16in circs; markers and the regular notions.

Gauge: over lace pattern, 25 sts in 4 inches.

Size: 8 inches square

Abbreviationspm – place marker.   K1tbl – Knit 1 st through the back of the loop (to twist the stitch).  slm – slip marker.   YO – yarn over. YO, YO – double yarn over – work wrong side of double yarn over as K1, P1.  K2tog – Knit 2 sts together. SSK – slip the next 2 sts knitwise (one at a time), then insert the left needle across the front of your 2 slipped sts and knit them together. Pattern

Working with the dpn’s and using the pinhole cast-on or the regular cast-on, cast-on 8 sts.  Divide the 8 sts evenly over your dpn’s and connect into a round.

Work the next 32 rounds as follows, or from the chart.
