Achingly Beautiful

The Curly Lilies are blooming at Piper’s Lagoon, out on the point, under the bare branches and between the rocks.

As we started our running around this morning the skies were grey and rain was falling heavily.  After the first stop the rain had stopped and the skies were breaking:  there were fractured rainbows and low clouds scudding across the tops of the trees: everything was shiny and sparkly.  By the time the last stop was finished the skies were blue and we were ready to take Sophie for her walk!

Tom had walked Sophie at Piper’s Lagoon earlier in the week and noticed that the Lilies were blooming.  We went back today.

Every where I looked there were more lilies!
Every where I looked there were more lilies!

And they were blooming – everywhere!  Along the path, between the rocks, under the bare branches of the bushes.  The interior of the Piper’s Lagoon Point was carpeted with moss and Curly Lilies.  Today they were dripping with rain-water and highlighted by the emerging sun – just stunning.

If you go to walk there – watch your footing carefully as the lilies are everywhere!  I did not stop taking pictures and I had to be careful – the path is not the safest and the flowers could be close to the edge of the path!  I didn’t want to step on one and destroy it!

The Curly Lily, properly called Fawn Lily, is a protected wildflower and like most things wild its habitat is shrinking.  Stop, look and enjoy them for the short time that they bloom!

The Curly Lilies were beyond beautiful.  I hope that you enjoy!  Spring is Coming!
