Yesterday evening as I sat idly thumbing through Facebook I was tagged!  I usually ignore tags for games or lists but this one intrigued me.

List 10 knitting books that have stayed with you over the years – that caught my interest!

These are not necessarily important books in the greater world of knitting.  But they are important to me – in one way or another they have influenced my knitting over the years.

Handpaint Country – by Cheryl Potter and A Gathering of Lace  – by Meg Swansen, those two books I have already reviewed in the past.  I have been working on a Review of the Mary Thomas Knitting Book, I finished it up and published it this morning.

I reviewed the Mary Thomas Knitting Book with an eye to how it has most particularly influenced modern bead and beading knitters.  The book on the list I will endeavor to review or write about over the next few months.

It was interesting to me to see which books sprang immediately to mind.  There are books that I find more useful that didn’t even make the list until this morning.  When I read over what I had written down the night before and realised that some other books – that I use and reuse – never even came to mind!

This, I think, just reinforces my personal feeling that books are like friends; some of them just get revisited and reviewed just because we love them or they influence us in some way or make us better at something; the same goes for friends.  The books in my list are my “book” friends.  Each time I revisit something new comes to light.
