Apologies, Apologies!

I am so sorry for the long delay between posts!

Winter Shadows – fingerless mittens for the Retreat.

It has been a crazy busy start to this year and doesn’t look like it will let up until the end of this month.  I have two deadlines to get through; the Retreat and one other.  Please be patient as my life will reset back to normal then!

Last year was incredible and this year is shaping up to be even better!  As of the beginning of the year I am now the Creative Director of the Buffalo Wool Co.  Sounds grand doesn’t it!  It really means that I keep on doing what I have been doing – but I have a title to go with it!

I went a little crazy on projects for the Retreat – it now stands at 3 hat options and a pair of fingerless mittens.  I have been totally consumed with the combinations and variations on these techniques!  To add to it all – the latest Vogue Knitting – more than half of the patterns are worked in Mosaic Stitch.  The Retreat is styling this year!

I am working on those patterns this week and into next – the retreat is only two and half weeks away!

Promises and teasers - of the Spring ahead.
Promises and teasers – of the Spring ahead.

Last night I left my knitting at work – by accident – but I sometimes wonder if it really was “accidental”  – gave me time to work on this post!

I am still walking every weekend and have so many pictures that I now don’t know where to start!

Foggy Views

I have had to start deleting and editing and moving my pictures – another time grabber – but I have completely filled up the memory on my computer!  In order to download and edit I need room!

Last Sunday we walked at Morden Colliery Park.  Soft rain and foggy views – but there were snowdrops coming up through the leaves and other promises of Spring – I do hope we don’t get heavy snow or a hard freeze – that will kill all of the small bits of green!

…..This week.

On Saturday we walked the Upper reaches of Bowen Park to check out Millstream again.  With the melt and the rain we knew it would be higher.

There were Snowdrops blooming along the River Walkway and more at home.  We know that Spring can’t be far away.

On Sunday we walked at the Nanaimo River Regional Park.  We went to see how high the Nanaimo River would be – I wanted to see if it had gotten high enough to start running through the dry wash that we walked across.

The River was higher, much higher, but not that high!  After all the rain and snow we had had recently and it still was dry.  I wonder what it would take to fill the wash?  I don’t think that we really want to see weather that extreme!

Mergansers behind the ice still on parts of the River.

There were Merganser Ducks and Eagles and even some ice – rotten looking – when I lived in Northern Manitoba that was the term for the ice that was breaking down and melting.  I even saw the first Hummingbirds of the season!

Part of the Regional Park used to be Forestry tree experiments.  There were three experiments going on there.  One with White Pine, one with Douglas Fir and one with Lodge Pole Pine.  I saw the Hummingbirds around the Lodge Pole Pine’s, eating the sap I think.  They moved much to fast for me to take pictures, but the sound of their wings and the bright green bodies certainly drew my attention.

There is moss and lichen growing green everywhere right now with the excess moisture.  They are calling for more steady rain for the next weekend.  We need it as it has been a very dry winter.

My work Is done - the Spring is on its way! I am resting now.

There were lots of different kinds of seed bodies all dried and curled up – waiting for the Spring and the new growing season to start.  There is so much expectation in the air!

Everthing is waiting for Spring now.
Everything is waiting for Spring now.

I will be at the Kiwi Cove Lodge this weekend, teaching Brioche and Lace at the Retreat.  I hope to get some pictures while I am there.  The Lodge is at a beautiful location, right on the back edge of the Ladysmith Harbour!
