Sugar Coated Morning

It was a glorious clear morning at Neck Point Park.  The air was crisp and fresh.  The light was bright and beautiful.  That cold, clear Winter light that casts shadows and high lights every shape!

Clear and Calm morning waters.

There was no wind and the Ocean waters were calm and quiet – perfectly flat.  The horizon stretch out and on forever.  This is my favourite kind of morning.

The frost was thick around the waters’ edge and coated the field grasses.  There were rainbows on the edges of the pathways across the meadow in the park.  The hoar frost softened all of the edges of the driftwood and dried grasses alike – it was a shimmering kind of morning.

The Rose hips were particularly beautiful.  I kept finding more and more.  Some red and plump, some black and shrivelled, all with a thick coat of sugary frosting.  They were highlighted by sun at some points and hidden in shade at others.  Each presented its own beauty.

Such wonderful light and such clear air – a glorious day for photography.  From the ice on the pond and the fungus amongst the leaves every detail was outlined and sharp to the eye.

Fall Is "More Than in the Air"!

Fall is drifting down from the trees and laying on the ground in heaps of brown and yellow; Orangey brown leaves are gathering up on the edges of our beaches; Back East Snow is falling lightly from the skies; Fall is here to stay!

It has been busy times since Logan was born.  Fall is always busy at Mad About Ewe – with classes and workshops to plan; new knitters to encourage and skilled knitters to inspire.  I am always trying to think up new ideas and projects.  Designing is a year round job  and there are so many new dreams to try to create!

The walking at this time of year is my favorite!  The weather has been beautiful – highlighting (or lowlighting) the colours and scents of this time of year.  The air itself is always different in the Fall – it is crisp – with hints of smoke and damp.  The light is spectacular.  Every line, every edge is crisp, morning light and evening light – just perfect times to go out and photograph our world.

The skies have been mostly grey on the weekends – with low clouds and no discernible horizon sometimes – this has made for some interesting shots.

This mornings’ pictures at Neck Point were at times quiet stunning – no wind and a very high tide allowed the ocean to provide fabulous reflections.  There were sounds galore – gulls, sandpipers, oyster catchers, cormorants, frogs, squirrels, they all vied for air time.  A lone eagle screed overhead at times as well.

A beautiful and inspiring walk.

Yesterdays walk at Piper’s Lagoon was a little on the wild side – A Heron posed alone the lagoon side and out at sea a sea-lion cavorted with the gulls.

The sea-lion was diving and surfacing; carrying a fish in its mouth – it was flinging its dinner high into the air and catching right out from under the gulls.  There was quite the show going on!

We have been staying mostly close to home.  Walking at all the local beaches.  With two turkey dinners to cook last weekend and all the travelling there has been no time to wander far.  Now that the initial excitement is quieted down things will resume a new rhythm one that fits a new life into the mix!

Happy Viewing
