Waiting…..

My favorite harbinger of Spring!
My favorite harbinger of Spring!

It has been a New Year of Waiting……not the quiet, relaxed patient kind of waiting; but the hurry up and get it done so that the next thing on the list that has been waiting can be started or finished or accomplished or whatever!

The waiting is over.

A perfect grace note to start any day!

The pace can be turned down a notch and I can stop and appreciate and share the notes that make my days so much more enjoyable!

I have been enjoying my favorite Cherry Tree Grove at the bottom of Departure Bay.  It started blooming last week and I admire it every morning on the way to work.  The blooms are glorious and the trees are filling in with the fresh growth.  I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!

Coming up next for me is the Stitches South Event in Nashville – April 22 to 26th.  I will be in the Buffalo Wool Co booth Friday and Saturday of that week and would love to meet you if you are in the area!  This event is so exciting for me.

Two years ago I entered a Facebook Design Contest that the Buffalo Wool Co was sponsoring – a chance to design with some truly unique yarn – Buffalo Gold – a yarn made up of 100% Buffalo Down with a thread of real gold running through it!  The Prize for the best design was a hank of that yarn for yourself as well as getting a pattern out there for all to see – knit in this amazing yarn!  Well I won the contest and the resulting collaboration was unexpected and has been so wonderful.

I have been designing for Ron and Theresa Miskin for almost two years and we are finally going to meet in person!  In Nashville! I am so stoked!

Remember the Stevie Nicks Design contest – well – my shawl, Rhiannon’s Cloak, will be finished and on the Nashville runway Friday evening.  I can hardly wait to share it with you.

In about 4 weeks this will be finished!

The next weekend., May 2nd and 3rd, I will be teaching at the Vancouver Island Fibre Festival.  Classes open for Registration March 16th.  I am teaching Twined Knitting and Demonstrating Painting Lace Knitting With Dyes – see you there.

I hope that you have been busy and happy over the last few months!  I am looking forward to blogging again – much more regularly!

Happy Knitting

Japanese Cherry Grove

Perfect blossoms - each branch a work of art.

There is a small grove, a circle of Japanese Cherry trees at the bottom of Departure Bay hill. There is a small commemorative stone in the center of the grove. The trees are in full bloom! What a beautiful location to honour a memory.

Small Perfect blooms.

I watch for the blooming of these trees every year.  Last year the blooms were sparse and had been driven down by hard rain.  This year, this year, the trees are stunning.

Last night on the way home from work I had my husband stop so that I could take pictures to share the beauty.
