The dew covered the grass and sparkled in the sunshine; a cormorant was fishing successfully close to shore; the air was clear and crisp; leaves were turning on the Oaks and Maples.
From the sunny yesterday, punctuated with gentle showers; the last day of Summer has given way to the blustering and blowing of a true Fall Day.
The furnace is on and the house still feels damp. It will take a day or two for the dampness to disappear.
We walked part of the Harbour Walk and around Maffeo Sutton Park. It was windy and wet to start and quickly deteriorated to a flat-out downpour! It was raining so hard that the raindrops bounced back up off of the water!
There were bright notes along the walk. Lingering weeds, Clover and a lone California Poppy; some hardy Roses also stood up against the wind and rain.
I was surprised by the presence of Mushrooms, both large and small in the grasses of Maffeo Sutton Park. Very unexpected in such civilized surrounding’s!
This afternoon will be devoted to visiting, knitting and cooking. I just pulled a Wacky Cake out of the oven. Once it cools it will get iced with a fudgy chocolate icing!
Dinner for family and friends, Roast Chicken and the fixings – perfect for this damp, Early Fall day!
Happy Autumn to All
