Happiness Is….

New and unexpected places to discover where I live - a constant source of delight! A tiny channel that runs next to the River at the Canyon - how many times have I been to the River without knowing that this was here!

I woke up this morning to hear that today has been deemed the International Day of Happiness.  It was created by the UN in 2012.

I think that every day should be a Happy Day – though, given human nature, that could be a tough one!  LOL!

What makes you happy?

I am pretty easy – family, friends, knitting, flowers, good food (sometimes even not so good food), where I live, things I do, things I collect.

... things I collect. The first Aynsley floral! Pansies are my favorite flower.

I try to surround myself with Happy.

I may be a little naïve – but I think that we quite often make our happiness.  It is how we view the world – half empty or half full.  How we view the people in our world and how the world views us… I don’t put much stock into the stuff the world says that we need to have to be happy.

I put stock into the people that are in my life.  Those people that are in my home, my job and those people that I meet as I go about my day.

Knitting is perhaps the activity that gives me my greatest joy and happiness.  Planning the next project or playing with the new yarn – I am always creating and dreaming.  When we find out what we love, what we want to do with our time – happiness isn’t generally far away!

….knitting – for Summer Painting!

Right now I am working on the sample for this Summer’s Painting Class.  It will be a small shawl, knit with a medium weight mohair.  If you are at this years Vancouver Island Fibre Fest – you can watch me paint it.  I will be demoing the process with this shawl on Saturday – May 2!

I hope that you have a Happy Day!

Happy Knitting!

Louden Park – Walking in the Rain

There were many willows around the edge of the Okanagan lake, Some were almost like groves there were so many of them growing right into the edges of the lake.

I have never outgrown my love of walking in the rain.  When I was a teenager, I lived in Kelowna.  We lived just a couple of houses away from a beach at Okanagan Lake.  My favorite place to walk were around the lakes’ edge, especially in the rain.

Today it is raining and we went for a walk around another lake.  Sophie likes walking in the rain as well.

Louden Park has a beach and boat ramp on Long Lake.  And a walk that starts at the beach and goes around the Lake to exit a little further up the road.  It is a nice little walk around part of Long Lake.

Happy Walking
