This is the third year of the Purple Cap Campaign or “Click for Babies“. This organization was created to raise awareness of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
I have designed a little cap for the campaign and the pattern Purple Kisses is a free download on Ravelry. This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters. It is knit in the round in a spiralling pattern. The pattern is written for both Double Knitting and Worsted gauges.
If you are more of a beginner knitter the website has links to many free hat patterns. Take a look and find one you like and knit purple for the babies. I also have another free pattern on Ravelry – Baby Flap Cap – perfect for chunky purple yarns.
These caps need to be at least 50% purple in colour and we are collecting them at Mad About Ewe. If you are not in Nanaimo or area – check with the organization to find your local group.
Happy Knitting for a Good Cause!

I love the Baby Flap Cap – what would I do to make this fit an adult size head?
Thank you
Hi Laura,
You would need to add stitches between the flap shapings – I would start at around 92 sts and reduce to 72 sts. Or try working the pattern with a bulkier yarn and larger needles.
Have fun playing1
