I have lived above Departure Bay for about 20 years. This is the first time I have seen Orca’s in the Bay. I know that they have been here a couple of times before – but never have I seen them. I was so stoked! Amazing!
There were four of them. One was much larger than the other three. They were very laid back – spent a lot of time under water – just came up for air as necessary.
There were quite a few boats rushing out to see and track them. Harbour Patrol came out as well – to make sure that the boats wouldn’t get too close!
I took a great many pictures, but mostly got fins. I just had to share the experience.
