Though I sometimes use it as such! Because my brother and his family came to visit – and he is my little (youngest) brother – I must set a good example – So I did some cleaning and organizing of my house.
There was also a selfish purpose – with my brother here to help, my father could take care of a couple of specialized fixes that needed doing. My plan worked perfectly.
Soften them – my brother and father – up with a great meal the first night and get them to work for another (hopefully) great supper the second night! I love it when a plan comes together!
You may remember the Bathroom Reno last year. I wanted Stained Glass for the windows. Poppies to match my Mother’s Petit Point – which I “stole” from my father – he had two!
I went to Cheeky Monkey Glassworks – a glass studio in town and found the perfect pattern. Then I got to pick the colours of glass! That took a long time – there were so many choices. It was going to take a month before the pieces were ready.
The time frame wasn’t a problem. The glass pieces were my Christmas Present. I could wait! It has been harder to wait for the glass to be hung! It was a two person job and my husband is not handy and my father did not want to do it by himself and so life goes on! They were worth the wait!
I did some other organizing. I repurposed a Quilt Rack – given to me by a friend who had just downsized – for some of my shawls.
Another friend has also downsized and she gave me these two gorgeous little antique cupboards. When I first got them I asked my father where he thought they should go – he was very helpful – he had a spot at his place that would be perfect!
I finally decided where they were going – one to each corner of my dresser – the dresser now has quite the vintage feel! I don’t know what I will do when I downsize! I may need to upsize instead!!
With my brother visiting this last weekend has been very busy and I haven’t done a lot of knitting. It didn’t help that I decided that I needed to rework the last 4 -5 inches of a shawl I was working on. I am waiting until this evening to rip it back. I was having pattern and yardage issues – no real mistakes – just design decisions. So out it comes but I had to wait a bit and make sure that was really what it needed! After two days – no change – it is still what it needs so out it comes! Three or Four days of knitting for naught!
I did knit a pair of little booties yesterday. They are quite gorgeous. A great little project to learn a little bit about beading with pre-strung beads and create a gift for a new baby as well.
We got the new Angora Haze in from Rowan – a soft, hazy 4-ply. I really wanted to work with it and as I am also working on the store fall classes, what could I come up with that would cover both!? Beaded Booties seemed like the answer.
We walked at Long Lake yesterday. It was a lazy kind of walk; ate a few blackberries; they are ripening rapidly; watched the bee’s at work and the dragonflies dance over the blackberry bushes. Did you know that Dragonflies like to eat the blackberries!?
Back to work today! it has been a great B.C. Day long weekend! I hope that your weekend was as well!
Happy Knitting
Lynette
Stunning photo the the arbutus. Your bathroom “window” is indeed very special. Like that there is still clear glass. Love the poppy. I think those antiques cupboards would look much better on my dresser. Lucky you to have such a wonderful friend. She knew that you would treasure them.
I won’t even beging to comment of the yummy yarns.
P.S. Isn’t that what quilt racks are for?
I always thought so!
