This morning I am cleaning up a few bits of business. I just finished up the pattern for Vogue Knitting and sent it off. I am putting together the slide show for KnitEast. It is loading on Flickr as I write this – I love multitasking! Then I have to see if I can load the slide show from Flickr to my USB drive – something new to learn every day.
After a loooong argument with Flickr – I have a slide show, but no comments or descriptions as yet! That will have to come tonight or tomorrow morning (most likely tomorrow morning as by tonight my brain may be toasted!). Then the USB transfer!
I am not sure if the slide show will be seen at KnitEast, but if they have someone with a loose computer they will be able to see the process from inspiration to execution to creation! All this learning for a “maybe”! But there is always the next time and then it should be easy!
Execution!
I want to get this done so that I can send the Tidal Pools Shawl off to Fleece Artist tomorrow, with the USB drive in the envelope. Let’s hope that there are no “issues” tomorrow morning! I hate arguing with a computer or a program – you never win!
My next task is to work on the pattern – it is more than half done, but there is still a lot of work left – mostly the lace charts! I also need to start working on the patterns for the fall classes as well. This year I made my job easier by choosing a few projects that already have patterns written by myself or others – EZ’s rib warmer, Isabeau Knits Basketweave Gauntlets, and my Victorian Lace Cap!
It’s an Irish kind of morning – mostly because it is raining. The skies are grey and the greens are very green and it feels like I need a strong cup of Irish Breakfast Tea. All of the Breakfast style teas are strong – but I think that the Irish is the strongest, especially the way I make it, lots of tea and a long brew time. I needed a kick-start this morning!
I think that it worked, the Vogue pattern is finished. It just needs checking and editing and I will do that through the day, test knitting when necessary until it is just right! I need to finish the sample as well, but that will be done as I test out the pattern. They will be ready to ship out to New York later this week.

I have blueberry muffins in the oven for our breakfast. The recipe is from the old Canadian Living Cookbook, the original, where you use butter, sugar and lots of the stuff that we don’t use too liberally now that we are so health conscious! This is the best recipe ever! I always add at least 50% more blueberries as well. My book does not look like the picture – it is old and scuffed, the cover is ripped and the pages are stained – my favorite recipes stand out! The book opens to the most my used pages without any effort! I bought this book when it was hot off the press – in 1987. It is still my favorite recipe book, the one that I use the most.

Another reason why it feels like an Irish kind of morning is that I am knitting with the green Yarn Over. This is a very vibrant green and it just feels joyous. I started on the Yarn Over sweater first because I know what I want. Despite the fact the Dorothy brought in her Pashmina sweater in for me to drool over – it did not lift the Pashmina up the list – but I did bring it out to stare at and contemplate! Dorothy had about 6 in knit and said that she was having a hard time putting the sweater down – I can understand that – the hand is incredible, so soft and inviting.
Irish, just underway.
The Irish Sweater – it now has a name – was cast-on yesterday. It is, or will be when finished, a top-down Raglan, with button detail at the neck and wrists. I have just got past the neck and shoulder shaping. In the Header (click on the title of the blog if you don’t see the buttons) picture I have a few different buttons out and I am trying to decide which one will do the trick. I most likely will change my mind about 6 times before I am finished the sweater. Irish will be a shaped tunic with some lace (same lace pattern as the cowl) at the wrists and hem and knit on 5mm needles it shouldn’t take too long! Just long enough for me to decide what to do with the Thicket Pashmina!

This afternoon I will work on the charts for the Tidal Pools pattern. The knitting instructions are pretty straight forward, but the charts, especially the ones for the corner shaping will be a challenge. The cockle shell pattern changes its stitch count as you work through it, increasing and then decreasing back to the original number. Those types of pattern are always – interesting, shall I say – to chart.
