This stranded pattern hat is an easy repetitive knit. Knit it in four shades of your favorite sport weight yarn – great for using up left over bits of yarn – or purchase 4 colours a make 2 hats, reversing the main and contrast for each hat!

The pattern is a four stitch (st) repeat and the colours are never carried for more than three sts. It is knit in the round so there is no seaming.

The crown of the hat is reminiscent of a many petalled flower. The effect is created with centered double decreases.

Materials: 65 to 95 gms of sport weight or light dk yarns, samples used Cascade 220 Superwash Sport (green sample) or Buffalo Skies DK (grey sample); 25 to 40 gms (100yds) main colour (green), 15 to 20 gms (50yds)  each of 2 colours, the mid tone (soft green) and light tone (yellow) and 10 to 15 gms (40yds) of the accent colour (pink); 3.5mm US #4 16 inch circ needle for ribbing; 3.75mm US #5 16 inch circ needle  and dpn’s for body; marker and the regular notions.

Gauge: 22 st in 4 inches in Fair Isle pattern.
