In-Twined Fingerless Mittens

040Great Pattern for using up lots of left-over sock yarn.

Mittens are knit using traditional twined knitting technique.

Technique:  Twined knitting is a type of texture and colour work knitting from the Scandinavian area of the world.  It creates a thermal layer on the inside of the project through the constant twisting of 2 strands of yarn.

Thumb opening is a buttonhole style with a modified gusset.

Mittens are knit from fingers to wrist.

Sizes:  Small, Medium and Large

Materials:  3.25mm dpn’s; 25grs each of 2 colours of 4-ply yarn; and markers for the beginning of the round and gusset shaping.  Sample shown is size medium and worked with Boreale wool from St Denis.
