Baby / Toddler Faux Fair-Isle Vest

Faux Fair-Isle: Working with a solid and a self stripping or spaced–dyed yarn with the traditional method of carrying colour to create a fun garment. No weaving in of multiple ends or cutting of yarn for the bulk of the body.

Simple baby vest to work in the round with a fun technique – great way to learn how to carry yarns, without all the end to weave in.

Needs approx 65% solid colour yarn to 35% striping yarn.

Sizing:  6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-3 years; finished chest size 21, 23, 25 inches; length 11, 13, 15 inches.

Materials:  Main colour – 200, 275, 375 yds; Contrast colour – 80, 115, 175 yds.  Sample was knit with Berroco Vintage DK and Hikoo Simplicity DK. 3.25mm US #3 16in circs and dpn’s and 4mm US #6 16in circs (the largest size of vest could be knit with 24in circs).

Gauge: 22 st to 4in in stockinet, knit on 4mm needles.

Furrowed Skies Blanket Vest

Wrap yourself in cozy colours with this stylish vest. Fringed, draped, striped and textured, this vest covers all bases as an interesting and practical piece of clothing art.

Starting with the fringe and knitting from striping pattern to striping pattern to the fringe on the other side this vest will keep your interest as you work your way through the textures and colours.

The armholes are simple straight slits finished with crochet.

Materials: Buffalo Skies, Main colour 2 (3) skeins D – Trade Bead (red) 400 (600) yds: Plus 2 skeins each of the following colours; A – Still Waters (green), B – Tatanka (golden brown), C – Sedona Sand (deep orange).

Needles and Notions: 4.5mm US#7 needles, 4.0mm US#6 needles; 4.0mm crochet hook (to finish the armholes) and the usual notions.

Sizes: Small/Medium – Blocked and relaxed – 50 inches long, 27 inches deep and 16.5 across back.

Large/X-large – Blocked and relaxed – 56 inches long, 29 inches deep and 18.5 across back.
