Busy is the New Norm

That's me - busy as a bee!
That’s me – busy as a bee!

It seems to me that life gets busier and busier as we acquire more time behind our belts!

  • The children are gone – lets add some activities.
  • My skills have grown – lets add more.
  • My interests are more diverse – lets learn more.

I don’t believe that I am alone in this situation.  It appears to be a phenomenon shared by many of my friends and acquaintances.

Second Summer Whimsey underway for the summer painting class!

I am just now surfacing from a very busy two week period – whereby I completed only one project – but oh what a project!  I did not take time to blog, beyond the bare minimum.  I still walked on the weekends with my husband and took many pictures – all unshared.  I ate, worked and slept.  There was no cleaning beyond what my husband did.  I knit, and then knit some more – what a wonderful two weeks it was, exhausting and exhilarating all at once!

Right now I am working on two projects – one the second Summer Whimsey for the painting class this summer; and two a pair of socks for the Buffalo Wool Co.

How beautiful!

This last weekend we took a walk through Third St Park and then along part of the walkway that is part of the Trans Canada Trail.  This wasn’t one of our normal walks we usually avoid the busy road areas.  My husband wanted me to see the incredible showing of Lupines along the trail – wildflowers that had been planted on the bypass bank!  Simply amazing as the Lupines are in full bloom right now!

I hope that you are busy as a bee right now and loving what you are doing!

Happy Knitting

Purple Kisses For the Purple Cap Campaign

Purple Kisses
Purple Kisses – the shape reminds me of Hershey’s Kisses Chocolates!

This is the third year of the Purple Cap Campaign or “Click for Babies“.  This organization was created to raise awareness of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

I have designed a little cap for the campaign and the pattern Purple Kisses is a free download on Ravelry.  This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters.  It is knit in the round in a spiralling pattern.  The pattern is written for both Double Knitting and Worsted gauges.

If you are more of a beginner knitter the website has links to many free hat patterns.  Take a look and find one you like and knit purple for the babies.  I also have another free pattern on Ravelry – Baby Flap Cap – perfect for chunky purple yarns.

These caps need to be at least 50% purple in colour and we are collecting them at Mad About Ewe.  If you are not in Nanaimo or area – check with the organization to find your local group.

Happy Knitting for a Good Cause!
