It is no secret that Purple is my favorite colour.  I call Purple a neutral colour and have written about it more that a few times!

Well this week on Pinterest I saw and fell in love with  a pair of Vintage Purple boots.  These boots are Purple, described as plum by the website, beaded with iridescent silver beads and absolutely gorgeous.  I wanted them.  I even went to the original website, Bustledress.com, to find out more – luckily they were sold – I think that they might have a bit too rich for my pocketbook – But Oh I wanted them!  I hope that whomever bought them will wear them with joy or display in a place of distinction – they are fabulous!

Working a yarn store every day I am surrounded by wonderful yarn and work with and serve like minded fibre addicts.  The yarns and people are constant sources of inspiration.

Melody Lang is a regular customer, not so much for yarn – though she does purchase some.  Melody is a spinner, weaver and sometime knitter.  Mostly Melody comes by to chat, share ideas, and discuss fibre related news.  Melody is part of a local Artisan’s co-op.

The Artisan’s Studio is downtown and there are over 30 Artists that display there!  Amazing stuff!  Joan Hoye – the amazing silversmith who makes the stitch markers that I love is also a part of The Artisans Studio.  But I digress…..

Yesterday Melody came into the store; she wanted to ask questions about a yarn she had spun about a year ago. I had seen it then and swooned!  Melody was ready, and thinking about what to do with it!  Did I have any ideas?!

This yarn of Melody’s was spun with natural black angora and silk – and the silk could have a little merino or yak in it – all of it natural coloured.  It is a stunning piece of art-yarn.

Melody had brought the yarn back with her, packed carefully in a beautiful box – it deserved it.  The yarn weighs 80grs, and Melody estimates that there is about 300 yds in the skein.  We discussed shape and pattern and how far the yarn would go.  Melody and I had a pretty good idea of what we could expect from the yarn.  Once the we had finished the discussion, Melody said “This will make a wonderful shoulder decoration for you Lynette”, (or something like that) and gave the yarn to me!

I was floored, stunned and thrilled!

Why?  Because I had been describing the yarn to someone one day and commented that it almost made me cry – it was so beautiful.  Melody felt that I would give it a good home!

I already know that it will have silver beads to accent the natural black and greys of the fibre – other than that I am not sure.  I have a couple of other projects that need finished first!  Thank-you Melody!

One of the projects that need finished first is a new Moebius cowl/shoulder cozy.  I am teaching the Moebius cast-on Saturday Feb 8th and decided that I had to knit-out the moebius pattern floating around in my head – cables and lace knit in Malabrigo Worsted.
