Retreat and Other Knitting News

It was the perfect West Coast Weekend for Knitting, low grey clouds, moving lazily across the mountains and some rain - beautiful.

The Retreat is over and like normal it went much too fast!  Thirty-seven women, one baby,  Emily and myself, adds up to forty-one jam-packed experiences!  This retreat ran very smoothly and seemed to be well received.  We saw some incredible projects – check out the slide show – from Anita’s not so basic socks to the most incredible lace and everything in between!  Hamish, the baby, got to model quite a few garments.

Over the Retreat weekend Vogue Knitting put up their Spring Preview.  I discovered this Saturday evening and went dancing around my room.  The pictures are so beautiful!  The magazine itself, Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 2012 will go on sale early March!  The shawl was knit with Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk 4-ply and the beaded socks with Lorna’s Laces Solemate.

I am working on a couple of idea’s for submission to Vogue – they are almost ready to submit and then we will see if there is any interest!

Meanwhile, the KAL is progressing quite nicely.  I have just added the second section and I am working on the 3rd and 4th sections right now.  There are over 200 people in the Ravelry Group and about 33 projects on the projects list and quite a few more queued.  It is so exciting to the yarns and  beads to combine and create new looks.

I love Fiona’s lace version.  The extra repeats make the pattern much more interesting.  I may have to try a lace version as well, maybe wide enough to be a shawl!

Happy Knitting
