Status Quo

Status quo, a commonly used form of the original Latin “statu quo” – literally “the state in which” – is a Latin term meaning the current or existing state of affairs.[1] To maintain the status quo is to keep the things the way they presently are. The related phrase status quo ante, literally “the state in which before”, means “the state of affairs that existed previously”.[2]  – Wikipedia

The last two mornings I have sat in my chair and stared at the computer screen wondering what to say!  OH no! – it is the end – there is nothing new in my life to write or talk about and I will never write again!  A little extreme, but you get the idea.

Fiona's Lace Version of the Dark of the Morning!

I have spent a great deal of time this week working on the retreat and KAL hand-outs, as a result I haven’t knit a lot or gone for any interesting walks or really had anything new to say – hence the status quo is normal – there have been no changes!

I sit here with some Twining Earl Grey Tea – my favorite brand of Earl Grey – and realise that some weeks are just like that.  Your friends will know and appreciate that no change is just time to chat about what isn’t changing and appreciate those quiet moments in life where everything is just moving as it should!

Dark of the Morning - KAL - I have started the second section now and it is all working well!

I have moved the start date of the KAL forward to this Sunday January 29th.  Fiona has finished knitting her first section and is satisfied that the charts and instructions make sense.  I’ll do a proper start-up announcement about where and how on Sunday – if you have not joined Ravelry you will need to! You need to be a member – there is no charge to join – in order to download the first installment of the pattern!

Bed Socks anyone!?

I am designing a pair of beaded mohair bed socks for fun – and to keep my feet warm while sleeping.  I have recently discovered that I sleep better with some socks on!  It is true, I cannot tell a lie.  It may all be in my head, but it is working and I am sleeping better so I am going with it!  I also have come up with the idea of knitting the pattern up in some undyed mohair-silk that I have and painting a pair – I have been playing around with the idea of a hand-painted sock class!

I hope that you have a great day!  If you are on the West Coast – it is supposed to rain all weekend – so take advantage of today if you can.  And then knit – guilt free – all weekend!  I will be!  If you live elsewhere I hope that you have  a great weekend and do lots of what you love as well!

Happy Knitting

  1. Like the idea of knitting a pair of bed socks. I would find that the mohair would be “felted” after one nite! My feet never seem to be still, they are constantly moving – and moving a lovely pair of beautiful mohair socks over flannel sheets would be heartbreaking. Even my plain ole handknit socks that have been worn to bed are all pilled.Hopefully you are a quiet sleeper.

  2. I like wearing socks to bed when I am not feeling very well. I have a pair I knitted with my handspun and they aren’t really strong enough for hard wearing, (how silly is that!) So I wear them in bed and they make me feel cosy.

    1. It is really wild to find out that what you are doing is the right thing to do! Especially when it comes about because you had cold feet one night!!
Thank-you for the comments about the beads and painting – I love both!

      Happy Sleeping
