Two Projects with Beads!

Raindrops on Roses - Small Beret

I’m working on the pattern for my Embossed Beret, a lace beret accented with beads.  The Beret is knit with worsted weight yarns and size 6/0 or 4/0 glass or wooden beads.  The medium and large sizes are knit and I am knitting the small size now, (it was the model for the beading tutorial in the previous post).  The written pattern is about 1/3rd done and enough is ready for the class on Thursday.  The writing will be mostly finished next weekend.

The beads on the yarn, looked like raindrops.  The colours reminded me of roses in a garden.  The yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, an absolutely gorgeous yarn to work with, very soft with great colours – this one is the Tuscany colourway.

My Helix Scarf so far - the center section is about 3 1/2 inches deep.

Mad About Ewe started its first ever KAL this weekend – Helix Scarf. I’ve made a few modifications.  I like the rounded end shown in one of the samples and have provisionally cast-on my initial stitches so that I could graft the ends together later.

Since I think that beads really can accent curves and edges I have also decided to bead my Helix – 1000+ beads really slow you down!  The knitting is simple, but the effect is rich, making this a very satisfying knit so far.

I hope that your knitting is going well!

Happy Knitting

Lynette
