Start knitting a Sweater!

I’ve never heard of this day – but it is about saving energy by wearing a sweater and turning the furnace down for the day!  I suggested to the local news station -via facebook – that they should also talk about the sweater designers as well!  Canada has a few of them; Mags Kandis, Veronik Avery and Stephanie Pearl-McPhee to mention a few.

The Retreat is over.  It went well, with only a few glitches – the worst one was the loss of our second teacher, she had a very last minute family emergency.  So it was myself and Emily and 40 women wanting to learn about Shetland Lace Knitting – I think that we coped quite well!  I’m still working on the Diamonds and Madeira Shetland Shawl, but I am on the last side of the edging and will finish tonight or tomorrow.  This is my favorite part of the knitting process on this type of shawl – it is like watching a flower bud open.  As you progress through the edge more and more of the shawl comes off the needle and the shawl opens up and the patterning becomes more visible!

First Snowdrops!

They are forecasting approximately 4inches of snow for later today.  I hope that the forecast is wrong – the first snowdrops and crocus’s are pushing through the soil and brightening my day!  I love these first signs of spring!  It time to add some colour to the beautiful greens and greys of winter.

Happy Knitting
